Today we go into the studio and start recording the next record. Typically, I’d have some demos by now but we’re doing it differently. I’ve abandoned my little closet of a studio in lieu of the real thing, and to escape the reliance on electronic drums and sounds. They are still there, but they come second and are very sparse.
I have to relax and have some fun with this… I tend to go overboard, wanting it to be absolutely perfect. But it’s the flaws that make things special, like an old chair or Ovation classical that your dad used to play and teach with, then gave to you. It feels human and real. There’s nothing more amazing than recording music you’ve written, worked on and believe in, especially if you’re not sitting in a sweaty little closet studio in August, alone, trying to come up with some kind of dance rock number. I don’t feel like dancing, I feel like driving.. Going somewhere I’ve never been.
And we’ve never been here.
Keep watch on the facebook page and this blog. We’ll post things as they happen in there when we get a break from recording.
