Red House Been Empty
My favorite track in our setlist to perform is Red House Been Empty. It’s got a loose structure as far as my part so I can change up some of what I play every night. Since we play to electronics everything in the set is mostly rigid and it’s nice to break free of that sometimes.
For some reason, it’s either the absolute most destructive song we have or one that sends the crowd...

Production
Writing music on a computer is some of the most tedious bullshit I’ve ever done. Just like watching somebody DJ on a laptop, it’s about as exciting and musical as color correcting a picture in photoshop. It’s very easy to get caught up in minor details, automating everything and throwing in countless audio tracks that just clutter the song up til it no longer sounds like music....

The Shirt Shed
Before I got out of the midwest I worked at a big shirt warehouse called The Shirt Shed. It was the dead of winter and the warehouse was unheated. This winter was particularly bad and I’d have to pour hot water down the door of my Nissan Sentra to get it open at 4:30 in the morning to be at work by 5. The door would freeze again almost immediately so I’d have to hold it shut, work the...

Mozart vs GG
I started my musical life as a violinist. I was given a choice when I was very young: violin or cello. Looking back and knowing what I know now I would have preferred cello, but my personality requires that I choose the loudest instrument available so it had to be the violin.
I studied with various teachers around Marion IN for as long as it was sufficient, but I outgrew them quickly and started...
Hole in the wall
Woke up Sunday morning and found that I left myself a little message in the form of a hole in my wall. I guess the late night version of myself had a problem words just couldn’t express. Sometimes it’s the only way I’ll pay attention.

Sick of the city. I have to go down to Canal Street and pick something up but I just don’t want to leave the apartment for anything. I feel like I’m in a bubble walking around, invisible to everyone. I actually think that’s what the crazy people on the street think because no matter how nuts they get, nobody ever pays attention. They just pretend it’s not happening…

Bitchin Amp
In November 09, I had a feature on Guitar World’s website about a custom amp my cousin built for me. There wasn’t much of the amp actually making noise in the video so I cut together some of the stuff that wasn’t used. This thing is insane…
BMLINX had a show in Indianapolis on Dec 6 and Dave was going to bring the finished amp down so I could use it for the show. The...
Plastique
New Years is always a kind of time for reflection. So here’s a little:
When I showed up in NYC a while ago I was ready for a change. Tired of the bad rock music that was coming out, electronic music was this unexplored territory for me. My good friend Tony (aka DJ 621) took me out to Twilo and that cinched it. Although most of the DJs that would play at Twilo were pretty corny, the sound...
